Coaches required for 2015
Karori Junior Hockey offers a range of team options supported by a multi-layer coaching approach where full training and support is provided. Nothing compares to the rewarding experience of coaching juniors as your team grows through the ranks. Give it a go in 2015 by contacting us now!
The pre-season hockey programme begins in January so keep an eye on kjhc.org.nz over the summer holiday. We seek nominations now for our 2015 coaching team.
The Karori Junior Hockey Club enters teams into all levels of Wellington Hockey’s primary competition: Funsticks, Y3/4 6 aside, Y5/6 6 aside, and Y7/8 11 aside. Where numbers allow we also consider entering Y7/8 6 aside teams. Our philosophy is to ensure children develop a solid hockey skill set, develop talent in being a team player and encourage a lifelong love for the game of hockey.
As a club, we have developed a multi-layered approach to coaching 6 aside that supports both coaches and players throughout the season. We allocate 6-aside teams a “weekend” coach or coaches (often a combination of a parent with some hockey experience (often quite a while ago!) and a high school student who plays hockey); and provide teams with the opportunity to train once a week under an experienced coach, in what we call “cohorts” – that is, two or three 6 aside teams training together.
We are now seeking expressions of interest from people wishing to be a 6 aside weekend coach, a cohort coach, or both, and also those who might be interested in coaching an 11 aside team next season (we have two girls’ and two boys’ teams). Our coaching model allows for people to contribute their time in a way that works for their work and life commitments. Full coach training will be provided prior to the season commencing, with an opportunity put that into practice at pre-season training.
Our coaches are critical to our clubs success and with growing interest we need more of you for next year to give all the children the opportunity to improve. Please email the coaching convenor (email@example.com) by 30 November 2014 to register your interest. Visit kjhc.org.nz for more information or email. We look forward to hearing from you.
