Our club is a 100% volunteer led and run junior sports organisation. We rely on the passion and commitment of more than 50 volunteers every year in various governance, operational, coaching and team management roles. Our community demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting youth sport and this is evident in our operations and long term outcomes for our hockey players. Our club believes sports clubs support the development of a positive community environment and foster a long term commitment to movement for our young people involved. Thank you to all our volunteers who run our club.
From time-to-time an individual will demonstrate an extraordinary level of commitment above and beyond the usual amazing commitment all our volunteers demonstrate. At our club we acknowledge these people for the leadership and enthusiasm they show in their daily commitments to our club and the impact they have on our club through their above and beyond approach.
2018 John McCrystal
John has been involved with KJHC since 2014. John has coached multiple teams (often at the same time). John generously coaches other cohorts and teams that have not included his own children (Hugh and Nell), coaching wherever the club need exists. John has a strong development focus with his coaching style and this was recongised by Wellington Hockey Association at their 2019 annual awards when he received a coaching excellence award for his alignment to the development philosophy a long with his outstanding coaching of the 2018 Curtis U13 team that came second overall. John joined the committed in 2019 as the Coaching Convenor. John is a great bloke and this coupled with this coaching talent and commitment to our junior club has resulted in many years of outstanding effort on his part. We thank and honour John.
