What’s involved?
Committee members are essential to making sure the club operates effectively and efficiently. It is also legally bound by its constitution.
There are several key roles involved in managing the KJHC and these include:
- Convenor
- Chair
- Treasurer
- Other members
Time requirement: 1-2 hours per month however, the Convenor role will take more time at the start of the season.
Roles: there are several key roles to help run the committee including:
i) Convenor (can be shared between two parents)
- Sorting the teams
- Identifying coaches, managers and umpires (with the help of other committee members)
- Communicating with parents
- Organising training venues
- Distribution of team bags/gear at the start and end of the season
- Maintaining a good working relationship with Wellington Hockey and other clubs in the region
ii) Treasurer
- Managing the club’s account
- Submitting EOY accounts
iii) Chair
- Organise and run meetings (one per month)
- Take the minutes
- Organising the AGM
iv) Other members (these roles are shared between members)
- Manage the website (key dates, links to registration etc)
- Provide support to the convenor/s
- Help sort and store the gear at the end of the season
- Organise photo night
- Purchase end of year certificates/medals and trophies
- Approving payments
- Fundraising
