Umpires are crucial figures on the hockey turf and each year they officiate thousands of games at all levels of the sport throughout the country. At KJHC we rely on our coaches, parents and students to assist us to ensure our games are umpired every week.
For the 3/4 and 5/6 development grade, we rely on the coach of the team to also umpire the game. However, we recommend where possible another parent or student umpires. From 5/6 premier we aim to have dedicated umpires on every Karori team. Umpiring at primary hockey level is something anybody can learn. Learning to umpire is fun and offers another pathway in sport that builds both hockey and life skills. Wellington Hockey have umpiring courses available to help get you started.
